What has made me happy? Mudchute Farm, London October 2015

Days out with my children really do make me happy.  They can be stressful at times, but during half-term really is more bearable when we have things to do.   This week we thought we would explore our local farm.  We used to go quite a bit when my older two were small, but we hadn’t visited since miss Penny started moving around.  We did have an ulterior motive however, which you can see here in our post about our Pumpkin photoshoot.  Mudchute farm is located on the Isle of Dogs and is a fantastic green space in a rapidly expanding cityscape.

Penny loved seeing all of the animals, and seemed to particularly love the sheep and thought it was hilarious when they’d ‘Baaaa’.  I can’t believe we waited so long to go back properly, and we will certainly not be leaving it so long again.

I was reading about this place the other on a feature about urban farms. My nan was born on the Isle of Dogs and years ago the only way to get fresh eggs was to have them come in on the railway from her grandparents’ farm in Norfolk. I bet she wouldn’t believe there was a farm there now.
